ppl,

just got news on this.

WHEN YOU'RE OUT AND ABOUT WITH YOUR DOG:
if you are with your dog, and your dog DO NOT have a valid dog license, the council can confiscate your dog!
if you are NOT with your, and your dog has a valid dog license, the council can confiscate your dog!
if you are NOT with you, and your dog has NO valid dog license, the council can confiscate your dog!
if you are with your dog, and your dog has a valid dog license, it's alright!

IF NO NEIGHBOURS COMPLAIN & THE COUNCIL DO SPOT-CHECK:
if you are at home with your dog, and your dog has NO valid dog license, they can confiscate your dog!
if you are at home with your dog, and your dog has a valid license, it's alright!

IF NEIGHBOURS COMPLAIN ABOUT YOUR DOG:
doesn't matter if you have a valid dog license or not, the council can take actions against you and your dog.

so guys... i recommend that you do get your dog license no matter what.

thanks.

oh gosh!!!! i've dog licences for all 3 dogs. use bro name & address for one dog coz we only allow 2 dogs per house. bro lives just down the road.

my problem is abby-girl keep chewing & biting her licence. tried to keep it short but she still manage to bit it... so in the end all 3 licences are hanging at the key box.

you don't have to put the dog license on her all the time.
just be sure you can produce the dog license when the authorities ask for it.

Talking about Licenses I have just had an email back from New Zealand to let me know that alot of areas in New Zealand don't allow you to have more than one dog without a special License.

Was recommended to contact the various Councils once we get there to find out what their rules are and what the different areas charge for this License...hhhmmmm...think I will be doing that long before we go there. With our luck we would move into an area that doesn't allow you at all to have more than one dog.

what we do is have the dog license tagged to the leash.
sometimes we use a harness on them, and sometimes we use a collar. but the leash is always the same one. so might as well tag the dog licenses to their leashes. :)

guys... UPDATE!!!

today, in the morning (after i went to work), MBPJ went rounding in my mom's neighbourhood (my mom lives 1.1km away from me). they went to every home, rang the door bell and ask if the owners have any dogs.

my mom answered the door, and her obvious reply was "yes, i do have a dog". MBPJ reps then ask to see her dog's dog license. my mom ask for the reason why they want to see it, and their reply was "standard procedure". my mom then produced her dog's dog license and they were ok with it. and left.

so what happens if 1 cannot produce a dog license? warning? or straight consficate?
my mom asked, and they said "consficate".

again, a council dog license is not expensive.

PLEASE GO GET ONE!
if you go in a couple of weeks' time, you'll be getting next year's license.
just go get it!

and for those who keep their dogs at the outside compound, please put the dog license on your dog.

Question - Can they enter your house and consficate the dogs or not without your approval ?

lileeng, they can't consficate your dog, let alone enter your home to remove anything IF you are not home. that's "stealing" or "robbing" already.

but if you are home, they do have the rights to ask for dog licenses with the right papers.

even if you are not home, if they have the warrant from court to enter your home, they can.

To my knowledge, they can't just consficate the dog!
Not even shooting the dog(s) in our porch.
Cos it's private property and the dog(s) are not running freely nor making troubles (if any).
But they'll call for the owner and if no owner's around, a warning will be given.
Like Deby said, if a warrant is in hand, i think they can do whatever they want according to the warrant's permits.
So, to safe guard this, put on the valid license on the dog or put the dog in the house.
